The Year Gaming Goes Absolutely INSANE
From GTA 6 to Marvel's Wolverine — this is the most stacked year in gaming history. Here's every game you NEED to know about.
Let's be real — 2026 is the year gamers have been waiting for. We're talking about the biggest open-world crime game ever made, the most vicious superhero brawler from Insomniac, a James Bond origin story, racing across Tokyo, fighting through hell, and so much more. Whether you're a PS5 player, an Xbox guy, or a PC master race legend — this year has something for everyone. Get hyped. Your wallet is going to cry.
GRAND THEFT AUTO VI
The wait is almost over. GTA 6 is officially dropping November 19, 2026 — and it's already being called one of the biggest entertainment launches of all time. You play as both Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, a Bonnie-and-Clyde style criminal duo tearing through Vice City and the state of Leonida — a massive fictional Florida with neon-soaked cities, swamps, and the Florida Keys. The map is reportedly twice the size of GTA V, every single building was hand-crafted by Rockstar (no AI shortcuts!), and the budget is rumoured to hit $1 billion. This isn't just a game — it's a cultural event. GTA 6 won Most Anticipated Game at The Game Awards two years in a row. Nothing else comes close.
MARVEL'S WOLVERINE
Insomniac Games — the same team that made Spider-Man a PlayStation icon — is now unleashing Logan. Marvel's Wolverine drops September 15, 2026, and it looks absolutely brutal. You travel to Madripoor, Tokyo, and the Canadian wilderness, slashing enemies with adamantium claws in the most violent Marvel game ever made. Villains include Omega Red and Mystique. The combat is fast, bloody, and physical — and unlike Spider-Man's open-world NYC, this game uses tighter, level-based encounters for more intense action. PS5 and PS5 Pro only. Sorry Xbox fans.
PHANTOM BLADE ZERO
This one came out of nowhere and became one of the most wishlisted games on the planet. Phantom Blade Zero is a Chinese-developed action RPG with a "kungfupunk" style — imagine wuxia martial arts meets steampunk meets supernatural horror. You play as Soul, an elite assassin who's been framed for murder and given only 66 days to live. The rain-soaked rooftops, insane sword combat, grotesque enemies — it all runs on Unreal Engine 5 and looks absolutely stunning. Combat is blistering fast, focused on parries, dodges, and fluid weapon-switching. Launching September 9, 2026 with ray tracing and NVIDIA DLSS 4.
FABLE
One of gaming's most beloved RPG series is back after 16 years! Playground Games (the Forza team) is rebooting Fable with a gorgeous, fairy-tale fantasy world called Albion. The classic Fable ingredients are all back: choices that actually matter, consequences for your actions, dark British humor, and yes — kicking chickens. The game launches on Xbox Series X/S and PC first in Fall 2026, with a PS5 version coming too. Early gameplay has fans saying this looks like it could be a genuine Game of the Year contender. If you ever loved the original trilogy, this one's for you.
FORZA HORIZON 6
The Forza Horizon series has one of the best track records in gaming — every single entry has scored 85+ on Metacritic, with the last three games in the 90s. Now it's going to Japan — the most requested setting in the series' history! Race through neon-lit Tokyo streets (the city area alone is five times bigger than anything Playground has built before), epic mountain roads, and scenic countryside. The game launches on Xbox and PC on May 19, 2026, with a PS5 version confirmed for later. Over 550 cars at launch. Japan drift culture, anyone?
RESIDENT EVIL REQUIEM
Already out and scoring an 89 on OpenCritic — Resident Evil Requiem is one of the best games of the year so far. This one has TWO campaigns: Grace Ashcroft (an FBI analyst) leads a proper horror-focused story, while the return of fan-favourite Leon S. Kennedy brings the action-heavy gameplay that made RE4 legendary. It's the first main RE game with dual campaigns since Resident Evil 6, but far better executed. Path tracing, DLSS 4 on PC, gorgeous visuals — and it will absolutely scare you out of your skin.
PRAGMATA
Capcom's brand new IP has been in development for years and fans are finally getting it. Pragmata drops you into a near-future lunar disaster — spacefarer Hugh Williams wakes up alone on a mysterious research station and is saved by Diana, an enigmatic android girl with powers nobody expected. Together they must survive hostile robots and uncover what went wrong. The gameplay mixes real-time hacking, combat, and story exploration, with each character having unique abilities. A fresh sci-fi world that nobody else is making.
SAROS
From Housemarque — the same studio that made the cult-hit Returnal — comes Saros. You're Soltari Enforcer Arjun Devraj crash-landing on the alien world of Carcosa, uncovering the fate of a lost colony while facing shape-shifting enemies and your own inner demons. It's a PS5-exclusive roguelite that blends fast-paced third-person combat with the signature "die and try again" loop that made Returnal so addictive. Use the Soltari Shield to absorb enemy attacks and fire them right back. A dark, beautiful, intense experience for players who love a challenge.
007: FIRST LIGHT
The Hitman developers IO Interactive are making a James Bond game — and they are the perfect studio for it. 007: First Light tells an original origin story of how a young James Bond becomes the martini-sipping super-spy we all know. Before the gadgets, before the glamour — this is Bond learning the trade. IO's expertise in social stealth and globe-trotting missions from the Hitman series translates perfectly, letting you complete objectives in multiple ways. Fans are already calling this the most exciting Bond game since GoldenEye. Drops May 26, 2026.
NIOH 3
Already out and sitting at an 85 on OpenCritic — Nioh 3 is a banger for fans of difficult action RPGs. Team Ninja returns with their signature samurai and ninja combat, set across different eras of Japanese history. The game features a brand new protagonist and lets you swap combat stances in an instant to deal with different enemy types. If you've ever wanted a game that feels like Elden Ring but set in feudal Japan with ultra-fluid weapon-switching and demonic enemies — Nioh 3 is exactly that. Launched February 6, 2026.
MARATHON
Bungie — the creators of Halo and Destiny — are back with Marathon, a sci-fi extraction shooter that is already making people lose sleep. Literally. One reviewer at Kotaku wrote about staying up until 2 AM playing it — multiple nights in a row. You're a mercenary called a Runner on an abandoned colony ship, diving in to steal loot while other players try to hunt you down. It's gorgeous, brutal, and wildly competitive. Already one of the most talked-about games of 2026.
DIABLO IV: LORD OF HATRED
Diablo 4 has been building to this moment — the rise of Mephisto himself, Lord of Hatred, the Prime Evil that players have been obsessing over since the original Diablo 2. This expansion brings new zones, new classes, new endgame content, and a storyline fans have been demanding for years. If you're already in the Diablo 4 universe, this is going to hook you back in hard. If you haven't played — now's a perfect time to start. Drops April 28, 2026.
CRIMSON DESERT
Developed by Pearl Abyss (Black Desert Online), Crimson Desert is one of the most ambitious RPGs of the year — a fully single-player, story-driven open world set in a war-torn continent called Pywel. You play as Kliff, a mercenary navigating brutal politics, epic battles, and mythical creatures. After 6 hours of early hands-on, one PC Gamer reviewer called it "one of the most overwhelming, chaotic, madcap videogames I've ever played." The game reportedly sold over 2 million copies on day one. That tells you everything you need to know.
LEGO BATMAN: LEGACY
Don't sleep on this one. LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight takes the legendary Tt Games formula into an open-world Gotham City — the biggest Batman LEGO game ever. Combine fluid melee combat, stealth mechanics, and detective puzzles. The whole city is yours to explore as the Dark Knight, tackling Gotham's greatest villains. PlayStation's own page calls it "the essential Batman story." Whether you're playing solo or with a younger sibling, this is massive fun from start to finish. Drops May 29, 2026.
CODE VEIN 2
The original Code Vein was "anime Dark Souls" and fans absolutely loved it. Code Vein 2 launches January 30, 2026 and expands on everything — darker post-apocalyptic world, deeper Blood Code system to build your perfect vampire warrior, and even more wild anime boss fights. If you love stylish RPGs with deep customisation, gothic aesthetics, and epic difficulty, Code Vein 2 is built for you. The co-op is back too, so bring a friend to tackle the toughest bosses together.
